BEAUNE - Chancelier NICOLAS
ROLIN vintage:
The great and powerful lord Nicolas Rolin, chancelor of the duke Philippe le Bon, was the
founder of the splendid Hôtel-Dieu of Beaune which he had built in 1443. The
philanthropic organization he created deserves him the admiration and the gratefulness of
everyone. This vintage grew in 1963 thanks to a donation made by Madame Maurice PALLAGOIX
to commemorate her husband who was the mayor of Demigny.
BEAUNE - GUIGONE DE SALINS

Wife of Nicolas Rolin, she participated in the Hôtel-Dieu foundation with her fortune and
devoted herself to her husband's organization until her death.
BEAUNE - ROUSSEAU DESLANDES
vintage:
The noble pair carrying this name were the founders of the Hospice de la Charité of
Beaune, which has been of great help to the needy for three centuries.
BEAUNE - DES DAMES
HOSPITALIERES vintage:
For over five centuries, the Dames Hospitalières have been of great help to the needy
sick. Furthermore, several of them have made important legacies to the charity
organization which they devoted themselves to.
BEAUNE - BETAULT vintage:
Hugues BETAULT, counselor and secretary to the King, and his brother Louis, established
the women's infirmary and the big Saint-Louis room for sick men with their own money in
1615. These princely donations to the Hôtel-Dieu helped enlarge the poor people's home.
BEAUNE - BRUNET vintage:
Five members of this honorable and charitable family made legacies for the sick at
different times.
BEAUNE - Maurice DROUHIN
vintage:
Monsieur Maurice DROUHIN was the administrator for a long time, then fulfilled the
important functions of vice-president of the board of directors of the Hospices de Beaune
from 1941 to 1955. He was so attached to the Hôtel-Dieu that he wished to materialize it
through a lasting donation of an important vineyard located in the best vintages of
Beaune.

In 1979, the
CYROT CHAUDRON couple donated an important estate of fine vines, in Beaune and Pommard to
relieve the Hospital's patients.

vintage:
These vines belonged to the Hospice des Charités before the revolution.
CLOS DE LA ROCHE - Georges
KRITTER vintage:
In 1991, the Hospices de Beaune purchased a plot of this great Morey-St-Denis vintage,
thanks to a legacy from Madame Georges KRITTER and according to her will.
CLOS DE LA ROCHE - CYROT
CHAUDRON vintage:
In 1991, Monsieur and Madame CYROT CHAUDRON made a donation to the Hospices de Beaune in
order to allow them to enlarge the new vineyard purchased thanks to Madame Georges
KRITTER's donation.
CORTON -
Charlotte DUMAY vintage :
In 1584, this benefactor bequeathed an important estate of vines located in
Aloxe-Corton.
CORTON - Docteur PESTE
vintage:
In order to respect her father's wish, expressed while he was a doctor at the Hôtel-Dieu,
Madame the Baroness du Bay donated the estate of classified vintages which she owned at
Aloxe-Corton to the establishment. This vintage was enlarged in 1965 by the donation from
Madame Marcel FOURNIER, to commemorate her husband and her uncle and aunt, Monsieur and
Madame THEVENOT-BUSSIERE.

François de SALINS vintage:
François de
SALINS was very attached to the Hôtel-Dieu and bequeathed, in 1745, his wine-growing
estate located at Alaxe - Corton and Savigny.
CORTON VERGENNES - Paul
CHANSON vintage:
In 1974, this benefactor bequeathed a plot of Pinot blanc "Chardonnay" vines.

CHAMBERTIN - Madeleine COLLIGNON vintage:
This donation was made in memory of Monsieur and Madame Marcel
THOMAS-COLLIGNON.
MEURSAULT - Jehan HUMBLOT
vintage:
The lawyer
carrying this name, residing in Beaune, wished to help relieve the sick, and he thus
donated his estate at Laborde-au-Bureau to the Hôtel-Dieu in 1600.
MEURSAULT - LOPPIN vintage:
Several members of this family donated capital and real estate, at different times, to two
establishments : Hôtel-Dieu and Charité.
MEURSAULT - GOUREAU vintage:
Mademoiselle GOUREAU bequeathed several estates located on the Masse, Corcelles, Mimande,
Chaudenay, Ebaty, and Demigny to the Hospice de la Charité.
MEURSAULT CHARMES - Louis de
BAHERZE de LANLAY vintage:
This benefactor, former inspector for the telegraphs, bequeathed his entire fortune to the
Hospices de Beaune. This generosity allowed the first surgery unit to be constructed, as
well as a building for old people.

GRIVAULT vintage:
The GRIVAULT couple donated a vine for the sick in 1904.
MEURSAULT GENEVRIERES -
BAUDOT vintage:
The learned
antique dealer from Burgundy and his family donated a rich collection of objects of art
and of antiquities in 1880. The sale of this collection benefited the Hospice de la
Charité, according to the donator's desire.

Philippe le BON vintage:
The Duke of Burgundy Philippe le Bon used all his power to help the Chancellor Nicolas
ROLIN pursue his work of charity.

Jacques LEBELIN vintage:
The LEBELIN couple donated a large sum to help relieve the needy sick of the Hôtel-Dieu,
at the beginning of the past century.

LAMAROSSE vintage:
The last descendant of this ancient Burgundy family bequeathed his home and vines to the
Hospices and to his native village.
POMMARD - DES DAMES DE LA
CHARITE vintage:
Independently
of the devotion the nuns of the Charité put into caring for old people and orphans, which
is admirable per se, several members of the order bequeathed their personal belongings to
the establishment.
POMMARD - BILLARDET vintage:
The doctors carrying this name organized the surgical department of the Hôpital. The
daughters and granddaughters of these surgeons made a large contribution to the town's
charity organizations.
POMMARD - Raymond CYROT and
Suzanne CHAUDRON vintage:
In 1979, the
CYROT CHAUDRON couple donated an important estate of fine vines, at Beaune and Pommard, to
relieve the sick.
POUILLY FUISSE - Françoise
POISARD vintage:
At her death in 1994, Françoise POISARD left an estate to the Hospices, comprising two
houses, land and vines including 4 hectares of Pouilly Fuissé.
SAVIGNY Les BEAUNE - Arthur
GIRARD vintage:
This benefactor bequeathed a part of his property to the Hospices de Beaune in 1936.

vintage:
This notable family from Beaune bequeathed an estate located on Savigny and Pernand to the
Hospice de Beaune.

FOUQUERAND vintage:
Denis Antoine FOUQUERAND made a donation to the Hôtel-Dieu on February 8, 1844. His wife
Charlotte-Claudine BONNARD had already established a will in favor of the Charité on May
1, 1832.
VOLNAY - BLONDEAU vintage:
The generous benefactor named François BLONDEAU donated an estate on Volnay, Pommard,
Monthélie, Bligny, and Beaune to the Hospice de la Charité.
VOLNAY - Général MUTEAU

This generous benefactor donated a very important estate on Laborde au Château to the
Hospices de Beaune.
VOLNAY SANTENOTS - Jehan de
MASSOL vintage:
This counselor of the King at the parliament of Burgundy states in his will dated February
6, 1669 : "I leave all my possessions to my legatees, namely the poor of the Grand
Hospital of the town of Beaune". The legacy included estates on Meursault, Demigny,
and Travoisy.
VOLNAY SANTENOTS - GAUVAIN
vintage:
In 1804, Monsieur
Bernard GAUVAIN bequeathed all his possessions to the Charité; several years later, his
widow donated her mansion in Beaune and her estates on Chivres and Laborde-au-Bureau to
the same establishment.
